He joined the Institute of Applied Mechanics of Zhejiang University in August 2012 and is in charge of the Laboratory of Soft Matter Robotics and Intelligent Systems in the Center for Crossover Mechanics of Zhejiang University, led by academician Wei Yang. His research focuses on Soft Matter Mechanics, Smart Material & Stuctures, Soft Robotics, Underwater Equipment, Healthcare Device, etc. He has proposed a drive theory for achieving great electrodynamic deformation by controlling force-electric instability. He has published more than 50 papers in international journals, including a Nature cover paper, a Science Advances paper, etc. The papers have been cited more than 2000 times. He has received honors such as the Young Talents Support Project of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Scientific Exploration Award (Frontier Crossover Field), the Outstanding Youth Fund of Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the MIT Technology Review Technology Innovation 35 (MIT TR35-China).
